Sadly, as the number of individuals seeking support for a mental health disorder decreases, the number of people losing their lives to a mental health disorder increases.

If you have found yourself in the unfortunate position that sees you struggling with a mental health disorder, seeking support is imperative.

Not only can the support widely available to you assist you in alleviating the repercussions that mental health disorders have, but it can also increase the overall quality of your life.

What Support Is Available To Individuals Struggling With A Mental Health Disorder?

If you find yourself struggling with a mental health disorder such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder or burnout, you may wonder what support is available to you.

One of the most commonly utilised forms of support is rehabilitation.  Across the United Kingdom, there are various public and private rehabilitation hospitals, such as our own, that can provide around the clock care, therapy and aftercare support to individuals that are battling mental health disorders.

We understand that rehabilitation, for various reasons, may not be a suitable method of support for some.  With this in mind, it should be noted that there is a wealth of digital mental health resources that you can take advantage of if you require help and support.

Digital Mental Health Resources

As touched on above, there are various digital mental health resources readily available for individuals across the world to take advantage of.  Many individuals will turn to digital mental health resources as and when they recognise that they are struggling with a mental health disorder.

Others may utilise digital mental health resources upon completing rehabilitation or other forms of treatment.

Irrespective of whether you have previously taken advantage of support or treatment for a mental health disorder or not, there are a plethora of mobile applications, podcasts, online chat forums and digital therapy tools that you can take advantage of to help alleviate your mental health disorder and combat the pessimistic thoughts and feelings that you may experience.

To offer insight into the digital mental health resources available to you, we have delved into our recommended resources below.

Mobile Applications

From offering instant support and relief to providing a friendly face to anonymously share and resolve mental health problems with, it comes as no surprise that mental health mobile applications have most recently seen a surge in demand.

At present, it is estimated that there are 600 approved mental health mobile applications that can be downloaded irrespective of the device being used.  Many of the recommended mobile applications have been reviewed and approved by the NHS, which has led medical professionals to recommend mobile applications to patients struggling with their mental health.

Below, we have listed just a few of the mobile applications that we would recommend you take advantage of if you find yourself searching for digital mental health resources.

  • –     Clear Fear
  • –     Calm Harm
  • –     What’s Up? – A Mental Health App
  • –     MeeTwo
  • –     Thrive: Mental Wellbeing

Podcasts

Across the United Kingdom, it is believed that 10 million people listen to podcasts every single week.  Although topics discussed on podcasts widely vary, several podcasts have been produced with mental health disorders in mind.

From individuals sharing their own struggles with mental health disorders to medical professionals discussing effective coping strategies, podcasts have helped millions of people realise that they are not alone when it comes to mental health disorders.

  • –     If you are looking for a podcast to help you navigate and overcome a mental health disorder, we would recommend listening to the following podcasts;
  • –     The Mental Health Podcast
  • –     Happy Place by Fearne Cotton
  • –     Mentally Yours by Metro
  • –     The Science of Happiness
  • –     Borderline Idealist – BPD, Anxiety and Depression

Online Chat Forums

Although taking advantage of mobile applications and listening to podcasts are deemed highly beneficial, it is not uncommon for those struggling with mental health disorders to want to voice their concerns to others who understand precisely how they feel.

Considering this, various online chat forums have been launched to ensure that mental health support is provided to those in need.  Below are just a handful of chat forums that can be utilised.

  • –     Mental Health Forum
  • –     SANE Mental Health
  • –     Side By Side by Mind
  • –     Togetherall

Online Therapy Courses

When individuals think of therapy, many turn their thoughts to traditional forms of therapy, which see them sitting in a room with a therapist or counsellor.

Although individual, in-person therapy is exceptionally beneficial and widely employed by rehabilitation hospitals such as our own, many individuals have begun to consider and take advantage of online therapy courses.

Recognised and recommended by the NHS, Be Mindful is just one of the online mental health courses that can be completed.  The course, which costs £30, has reduced depression by 63%, stress by 40%, and anxiety by 58%.

In addition to Be Mindful, Talkspace additionally provides online therapy and is recognised as a highly beneficial digital mental health resource.  The Talkspace website enables individuals struggling with mental health disorders to participate in online therapy and talk to a licensed counsellor in their times of need.
