Deciding When Enough Is Enough

Admitting you have an addiction and asking for help is often the hardest part of recovery. It’s important to remember that you’re not alone and many other people share similar experiences to you.

At Nova Recovery we don’t judge, as many of our staff members are also recovered addicts, so understand the process of recovery from first hand experience. We tailor all of our addiction treatment programmes to suit your needs, as we understand that recovery is a personal journey.

You may have hit rock bottom, or have noticed the warning signs that your addiction is slowly escalating out of control. Either way it’s never too late or too early to ask for help.

Looking for rehab in Galashiels can be challenging with the current pressures on the health systems, which is why we recommend that you contact our team of professionals.

Time is of the essence when you decide to treat your addiction, as you may quickly change your mind, or lose confidence in your decision, so it’s important to act quickly. That’s why we have a transportation system in place that can help you arrive at our hospital swiftly and safely.

What To Expect From Your Rehab Programme At Nova Recovery

Upon arriving at Nova Recovery you’ll be given a tour of the grounds and facilities and introduced to the staff.

Once you’re settled you’ll undergo a full medical examination to determine your physical and psychological health. Only then can our team of experts design a treatment programme to suit you.

All of our treatment programmes are personalised, holistic programmes, but they all follow the same structure.

Everyone undergoes a detox upon arrival, as some patients are still under the influence when they first arrive and its important for your recovery that you can approach your rehab with a clear mind. After detox you’ll start your therapy programme.

Detox

Detox is the first step and often a daunting prospect, but should only take a few days to complete in most circumstances. The idea of detox is to rid your body of the substance at a controlled pace.

It’s likely that you’ll experience withdrawal symptoms during this process, but the types of symptoms you’ll experience will depend on the length and severity of your addiction. In order to keep you comfortable we do have prescription drugs on hand to help ease more extreme symptoms and runs the clock care.

You may be tempted to try a detox at home, but we would strongly advise against this as detox can be a dangerous process if you don’t have medical supervision.

Therapy

Once your detox is complete you’ll start with your therapy programme. We offer a variety of therapy treatments, but the most common is Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which works by identifying your negative thought patterns and helping you develop more positive processes and habits.

If you require a variety of approaches we can provide individual therapy that uses a range of therapy techniques based on the individuals’ requirements, so this can range from psychotherapy to CBT.

We are firm believers that peer support can be a powerful tool in recovery, which is why we also offer group therapy sessions, alongside a range of other workshops and classes that you can take part in with the other residents.

We provide art therapy, stress management workshops and fitness classes, to name a few, that can form part of your rehab programme during your stay.

At Nova Recovery, we encourage all of our residents to explore the local surroundings, as we’re based in the historical, seaside town of Largs.

Many people consider rehabilitation hospitals to be like prisons or hospitals, which could not be further from the truth. Our hospital is homey and comfortable and residents are free to explore the local surroundings during their stay.

Our Aftercare Services

Once you’ve successfully completed your rehab at Nova Recovery, you’ll complete a Relapse Prevention Plan, which will provide you with guidance for managing your long term sobriety.

Leaving the rehab hospital can be a daunting prospect and rightly so, as the first 12 months of recovery are the most challenging with most relapses occurring in this period. But rest assured, as we provide 12 months of free aftercare to help you get back on your feet.

We’ll introduce you to local support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics, where you’ll meet people that live locally to you and share similar experiences. These peer support groups are vital when it comes to maintaining your long term recovery, as they are people who can relate to your problems and challenges and often offer advice based on their own experiences.

Settling back into home life, with your family or partner can be a challenge. You may find that they want to give you too much space or wrap you in cotton wool. Either way its important to remember that it’ll take time for your relationships to find a new balance in your new life. If you find it too much of a challenge we do offer family group therapy sessions.
